Ten days is not a Singapore trip, it is a Southeast Asia trip that starts here. Two countries, three beds, and Singapore as the bookends.
Ten days entirely inside Singapore is a stay rather than a holiday, and most people who plan it end up filling the back half with repeat visits and shopping. The country is 325 square miles. Treat it as the hub it actually is.
The structure
Four nights in Singapore, five elsewhere, one back in Singapore before flying out. The final night matters more than it sounds: Changi is a fixed point and coming back to it the evening before a flight removes the one thing that ruins the end of a trip.

Days one to four — Singapore
The full city: bay and Gardens, Sentosa, the heritage quarters, Mandai. Unhurried, with the Night Safari on its own evening and a morning kept free for whichever of them you want to see twice.
Days five to nine — the second and third places
Two combinations do most of the work:
- Malacca and Kuala Lumpur. Coach up the coast, two nights in the old town, then on to KL for three. A land trip, cheap, and the contrast between the three cities is the whole point.
- Bintan and Batam, or Bintan alone. Ferries from Singapore, resorts, beaches and very little obligation. The restful version.
Phuket and Bali are both an easy flight and both turn this into a different holiday — worth considering if the second half is meant to be a beach rather than a tour.
Day ten — back in Singapore
Fly or ferry in, keep the day light, and use it for the things that suit a last day: the Botanic Gardens, one more hawker centre, the shopping nobody wants to carry through three countries. Stay near the airport or on a train line that reaches it directly.
What this length costs you
Two extra arrival processes, two hotel changes and, for Indian passport holders, more than one visa to arrange — check each before you commit to a route. The saving is real though: five nights outside Singapore usually costs less than five nights in it, and a ten-day regional trip can come in below a seven-day Singapore-only one.
If you are staying put
Then plan for a fortnight's rhythm at ten days' length: one thing a day, long lunches, an island trip, and the acceptance that you will spend a couple of afternoons doing nothing. That is a perfectly good holiday. It is just not an itinerary.
Booking the middle
The five days outside Singapore are the part that has to be arranged before you fly, and in this order: the onward transport first, the hotels second. A coach seat on a Friday to Malacca or a ferry berth to Bintan on a public holiday weekend both sell out, and a hotel you can move is easier to change than a crossing you cannot.
Money across three currencies
Singapore dollars, Malaysian ringgit or Indonesian rupiah, and whatever you are carrying. Cards work everywhere in Singapore and less reliably outside it, particularly at the smaller places worth eating in. Draw cash on arrival in each country rather than carrying it across; the rates at the borders are the worst you will see.
What ten days does to the cost
Not what people expect. Five nights outside Singapore usually costs less than five nights in it, sometimes markedly, so a ten-day regional trip can land near the price of a seven-day Singapore-only one. The additions are the crossings and, if the route requires them, the visas.
The one-city version, if you insist
It works, but plan it as a stay rather than a tour: a serviced apartment, an outer neighbourhood, one thing a day, and the islands used twice rather than once. What does not work is ten days of attractions — the list runs out on day five and the last five days become shopping.
